How it works

Better food in three steps.

No food diary. No manual logging. Just your groceries, tracked.

01

Shop with Store Mode

Open RypeIQ before you shop. Scan items as you add them to your cart. Every barcode gets an instant quality score. Your cart builds a live Shop Score as you go. Walk out knowing exactly how you did.

02

Your pantry stocks itself

Everything you scan lands directly in your pantry. Expiry dates, freshness, and quality scores are all populated from the barcode scan. Nothing to enter manually.

03

Watch your scores rise

Your Shop Score, Food Quality, Freshness, and Waste scores update with every shop. See the trend. See what's improving. One shop at a time.

Store Mode

Your shop, scored in real time.

Most food apps score one item after the fact. RypeIQ is with you in the store.

Three scores

One complete picture of your household's food.

Three distinct scores, each measuring something different and each driving a different behavior.

Food Quality

What's in your food.

Every item is scored 0 to 100 based on NOVA processing level, Nutriscore nutritional grade, and additive data. Your household average tracks how your food quality improves over time.

Excellent 75 to 100
Good 50 to 74
Fair 25 to 49
Poor 0 to 24
Freshness

How fresh your pantry is.

Tracks the overall freshness of your pantry based on expiry dates. Shows exactly which items need attention before they go to waste.

Fresh - 5 or more days remaining
Expiring soon
Past date
Waste

What you're actually using.

Tracks how much food your household uses versus discards. Estimates the dollar cost of what's been wasted and shows patterns so you can shop smarter quantities.

High score means less waste
Low score means action needed
Swap suggestions

Built on real science

Scores you can trust.

Every score is based on peer-reviewed science and open databases. We show our work.

NOVA Processing Level

The most scientifically validated food classification system. Developed at the University of São Paulo and recognized by the WHO. The primary driver of every item score.

Nutriscore

EU-validated front-of-pack nutrition grade based on calories, sugars, saturated fat, sodium, fiber, and protein. Used to refine the NOVA base score.

Santé Publique France

Open Food Facts

An open database of more than 3 million food products. Every additive detected affects your score. The additives penalty is capped to avoid over-penalizing.

Questions

Common questions.

Do I have to manually enter everything?

No. Scan items as you shop with Store Mode, or use Pantry Scan to add what's already in your kitchen. Manual entry is always there as a fallback.

How are scores calculated?

Each item is scored 0 to 100 using NOVA processing level, Nutriscore nutritional grade, and additive count from Open Food Facts. For fresh produce on the EWG Dirty Dozen list, pesticide risk is also factored in. Barcoded items use verified product data. Manually added items show an estimated score marked with ~.

How does recipe generation work?

RypeIQ looks at what's actually in your pantry and prioritizes items closest to expiring. Recipes are generated fresh each time based on what you have, not pulled from a generic database.

When is it available?

RypeIQ is live now on iOS via TestFlight beta. Public App Store launch is coming soon. Join early access to get in now.

Will the price go up?

Yes. $9.99/month and $79.99/year is our beta pricing for early users. At public launch, pricing moves to $12.99/month and $99.99/year. Anyone subscribed during beta keeps their rate for life, as long as their subscription stays active.

Is this medically validated?

RypeIQ scores are grounded in peer-reviewed food science. They are not medical advice and do not predict specific health outcomes. For personalized guidance, talk to a registered dietitian.
