Who these terms apply to

These Terms of Service govern your use of the RypeIQ iOS app and website at rypeiq.com, operated by Michael Mobley ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms.

What RypeIQ does

RypeIQ is a food quality intelligence app. It helps you understand the quality of your grocery purchases, track your pantry, reduce food waste, and generate recipes based on what you have on hand. Scores are based on publicly available food science data and are intended for informational purposes only.

RypeIQ scores are not medical advice. They are not a substitute for guidance from a registered dietitian, physician, or other qualified health professional. Do not use RypeIQ to make medical or dietary decisions.

Your account

You must be 13 or older to use RypeIQ. By creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it.

Do not share your account credentials with others outside of the household member feature, which is designed for shared household use.

Subscriptions and billing

Free trial

New users receive a 14-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card is required to start the trial. At the end of the trial, you will need an active subscription to continue adding items, generating recipes, and accessing premium features.

Paid subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are available monthly ($9.99/month) or annually ($79.99/year) during the beta period. Subscriptions are processed through Apple and managed through RevenueCat. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.

Beta pricing lock

Users who subscribe during the beta period lock in their rate for life, as long as their subscription remains active. If you cancel and resubscribe after the beta period ends, you will be charged the current rate at the time of resubscription. Beta pricing is not transferable.

Renewals and cancellations

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID settings. We do not offer refunds for partial subscription periods, except where required by applicable law.

Price changes

We may change our pricing for new subscribers at any time. Existing subscribers will not be affected by price increases while their subscription remains active.

Your content and data

You own the data you enter into RypeIQ. By using the app, you grant us a limited license to store and process that data to provide the service. We do not claim ownership of your pantry data, household information, or any other content you create in the app.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter. RypeIQ relies on your input and third-party databases, neither of which we can guarantee to be complete or error-free.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use RypeIQ for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to access another user's account or data
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract the source code of the app
• Use the app in a way that interferes with or disrupts our services
• Scrape, harvest, or collect data from RypeIQ for commercial purposes

Third-party services

RypeIQ integrates with third-party services including Firebase, Open Food Facts, Anthropic, and RevenueCat. Your use of these services through RypeIQ is also subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or content of third-party services.

Product data is sourced from Open Food Facts, an open collaborative database. While we use this data to calculate quality scores, we cannot guarantee its accuracy for any specific product. Scores marked with ~ indicate estimated data based on product category rather than verified product information.

Disclaimer of warranties

RypeIQ is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, about the reliability, accuracy, or availability of the service. Food quality scores are estimates based on available data and scientific classifications. They are not guaranteed to reflect the complete nutritional profile of any specific product.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of RypeIQ. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the app will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Changes to the service

We may update, change, or discontinue features of RypeIQ at any time. We will try to notify users of significant changes through the app or by email. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Termination

You can stop using RypeIQ at any time by deleting your account. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. If we terminate your account without cause, we will refund any prepaid subscription fees for the unused portion of your current billing period.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of [Your State]. Any disputes arising from these terms will be resolved in the courts of [Your State].
